Let's Grow Together!

At Energia and GIY we believe there has never been a better time to Get Ireland Growing.

COVID-19 made people re-evaluate how important local communities are to people’s physical and mental wellbeing. Green spaces became a sanctuary for most people during the pandemic, particularly in the height of lockdowns and for those without a garden. As Ireland continues to reopen, Energia and GIY hope to support communities to regenerate green spaces in their local areas and further ignite community spirit and connection.

Let’s nurture what’s in our nature and Get Ireland Growing again.

About Energia Get Ireland Growing

Thank you to everyone who took part this year!

This year the Energia Get Ireland Growing campaign aimed to sow the seed of community food growing. We’re on a mission to get as many groups growing together across Ireland. We started in April and gathered on July 2nd for Get Ireland Growing day!

Energia Get Ireland Growing was first launched in 2016 to promote community food growing projects nationwide. Through this initiative Energia, in partnership with GIY, supported 257 community groups with grants totalling €220,000. The recipients included schools, NGOs and not-for-profit organisations, community gardens and allotment groups, GIY groups, hospitals, crèches, direct provision centres and Men’s Sheds all across the country.

About GIY

GIY is a social enterprise that supports people around the world to live happier, healthier and more sustainable lives by growing some of their own food. GIYers develop what we call food empathy – a deeper connection with food and respect for the people and planet that put it on our tables.
